2018 Changes
Indian Motorcycles has made some minor changes to the Dark Horse, specifically with the controls.
The speedometer is now black, as opposed to the old Ivory Cream color. The analog fuel gauge is standard on the Springfield Dark Horse and higher models, this is an option on the Chief Dark Horse.
Some other minor changes come in the controls. The cruise control has been modified and consolidated into one knob and the placement is moved. This can be seen by some as a welcome improvement. Another change on the right control is the kill switch. As depicted in the picture the kill switch and start button are now on a single toggle.
The hazard button has been removed from the right handlebar and joined with the standard turn signal switch on the left. Other than moving the hazard switch the left control did not see much change. The horn and headlight buttons have changed shape every so slightly.
For those of you hoping that you can swap out the controls for the newer version, this is not an option as the wiring harness has changed as well. The good news is that you can change the speedo to black.
